# Use the REST API

> Create an API key and make your first request to the Acme API.

Create a key in **Settings → API**. Keys belong to the workspace and can be read-only or read-write.

```bash
curl https://api.acme.example/v1/clients \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $ACME_KEY"
```

Responses are JSON. Lists are paginated with `?cursor=`; the next cursor is in the `next` field.

> [!NOTE]
> Keys are shown once. Store them in your secret manager, never in code.
